eCAP Capture mode driver required for the beagle bone black

Dear team,

I am using "ti-sdk-am335x-evm-07.00.00.00" operating system on my beagle bone black and I have to work on "eCAP capture mode" driver. Is there driver available for "eCAP capture mode" in this SDK-07? If available please tell me the location and more over sysfs nodes are not creating for any of the existing PWM driver, is there any thing need to do extra to get the sysfs entries for PWM?

Hi Pavan,

Please read the Software Manifest (http://software-dl.ti.com/sitara_linux/esd/AM335xSDK/latest/exports/software_manifest.htm ) which lists everything that's included in the SDK. This wiki (http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Core_PWM_User's_Guide ) states that currently only PWM mode is supported for eCAP.

Any idea where I can get the driver code for this module. And one more question I asked is, why sysfs nodes are not creating for other existing pwm drivers?

Hi Pavan,

The driver code is located in .../board-support/linux-3.12.10-ti2013.12.01/drivers/pwm/ directory. You can be used pwm-tiecap.c file. But I think that you can use the second link on the Biser. In this document is written very well all about eCAP sysfs functionality.

I think " pwm-tiecap.c" driver code is for eCAP PWM mode, but I want the driver code for eCAP Capture mode or "pwm-tiecap.c"driver code is supporting for eCAP Capture mode also?

Regarding sysfs entries:
And the above link which you are referring to is for how to use sysfs entries. But my concern is i am unable to see any sysfs entries under "/sys/class/pwm/" for the existing eHRPWM driver, when the driver is loaded successfully.. If I do ls under "/sys/class/pwm/" nothing shown over there, so please advice me why the sysfs entries are not populating even though i have loaded driver properly.

Hi Pavan,

As you saw in the link the current release of the driver supports only PWM mode. I can't find anything related to eCap capture mode. Only I found http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ports.arm.omap/80653 patch, but you can use it on your own risk.
