OMAPL138 Support

I am trying to test the L138 EVM and ran into a few problems. I ordered the experimenter’s kit and a 6.4” VGA display kit. Both arrived and I was able to install the ARM tools, boot from FLASH and boot from TFTP/NFS. When I try to connect the display I find no documentation that connects the display module to the experimenter’s board. I read through schematics to see how the connector should be installed and tried it. The board did not fry, it came up looking like u-boot was driving QVGA to my VGA screen. As the kernel boots it changes video settings and loses sync…

LogicPD said this was a good question for TI…what have you got for me? How do I set up my video modes to get this display to work? Can I use fbset, bootargs or something else to set this up?

Hi,

I am not aware of a VGA display kit that was designed to interface with the eXperimenter kit. Can you be more specific how this looks like (a web link with info)?

Generally the display driver coming with PSP is supporting the 480x272 touch display that is available with the OMAP-L1 EVM (the eXperimenter kit does not contain that display). If you want to do other resolutions you need to adapt the board configuration and display driver. This assumes you have a working hardware connection of the LCDC signals to your screen.

I can't find anything that says that the VGA kit will work with the L138 eXperiementer kit. Ask Logic PD for that. They should also provide any software if needed (or the product is incomplete...)

We only have the WQVGA which is part of the TI EVM kit.

Yes, if they use the same connector it should work.

But there is no support software in their download section except the BSL Files which are DSP code.

Also there is a generic app note on connecting displays.
