SPI interface maximum throughput

Hi

            Has any one use SPI for data communication in the real application (running with codec etc.)?  If so, what would be the maximum through put that you have achived through SPI while running all the codec (not stand alone test number)?  I'm trying to confirm if it is practical or possible to use SPI to pass compress video at 5-10 Mbps rate with H.264 encoder running.  Any input would be very helpful.
