touching multiple points in resistive touch screen

HI,

I am using non-multi touch supported resistive LCD touchscreen. When i am touching single point i get the exact co-ordinate but when i touch two points simulataneously i recieve the average of two touch points co-ordinates. Why are we getting the average of two points.

While in case of capacitive touch screen we dont get average but it simply discards the touch... Why is it only in resistive touchscreen without multiple touch????
