Hi,

I have one question regarding AM3517 DSS(display subsystem).

My customer would like to output the image data from USB port. According to Interconnect Architecure Overview of AM3517 TRM, Display subsystem is connected to USB module via L3 interconnect. Does this mean Image data can output from USB port? By hardware viewpoint, is it possible?

Also, I think customer must make driver software for that. Have you heard such driver is already used with AM3517?

This would require rewriting the whole Linux display framework. I have never seen or heard of somebody doing that.

Thank you for your support.

I confirmed my customer what they do. Their system has small LCD for displaying. So they would like to display the screen(it is same as on small LCD inside system) on external LCD via USB interface. And if possible, they would like to dsiplay the screen on both LCD(inside small LCD and external big LCD(PC display size)). I think this is a feature same as screen mirroring.

I think the both screen (inside and external LCD) enabled is needed, it is difficult for internal bus conflict. But if inside LCD is off, it is possible?

How do you think? I need your advice.

What is the connection to the small LCD they have? If it's parallel RGB in my opinion this will be much easier to achieve if they place a DVI or HDMI transmitter on board in parallel to the small LCD.

I repeat, I haven't heard of an use case where display data is transmitted over USB, at least for Sitara processors.
