SYS/BIOS, on startup, where is SMCLK sourced from>?

I'm sure this is painfully obvious somewhere, but despite 3 cups of coffee I can't find the answer in the reference guide.

The reason I'm asking is that the first spin hardware we have, has the XT2 crystal soldered in BACLWARDS (my hardware guy is livid) and I'm seeing all kinds of weirdness.  USB fails, SPI fails, I2C fails.. and I'm wondering if I need to suspect the missing crystal or start chip-shooting the thing.

All help appreciated!
