rcalgo to use maxbitrate for complex image?

Dear Champs,

Could you please recommend ratecontrol algorithm to use max bitrate for complex image and to use target bitrate for normal image?

What is the difference between CVBR and VBR in this usecase?

e.g. when customer tried to implement this usecase using CVBR, what is the difference they should consider compared with using VBR?

Thanks and Best Regards,

SI.

  • Dear SI,

When the rcAlgo is chosen as VBR, and maxBitRate set is greater than (1.5 x targetBitRate), the codec will choose CVBR. on the other hand when rcAlgo is chosen as VBR and maxBitRate is not set or is less than (1.5 x targetBitRate), the codec will choose VBR.

For more information on CVBR, please refer H264 Encoder User Guide, Appendix-N : Rate Control - High Fidelity Variable Bitrate.

    Best Regards ,
    Nandu.
