Firefox browser and AM335x and AM437x

One customer has selected Firefox as “browser of choice” for a new linux based product, where we are proposing AM335x and AM437x

They’re not expert, they selected Firefox because they believe that it’s maintained and able to support the future requirements of their customers.

They want to have a demo next Tuesday in their office.

Questions:

- Can we offer guidance comparing the different browser technologies, with the objective of offering to customer something well supported on am3/am4x?

- The sitara sdk includes the QT browser.

What do we need to get a filesystem with Firefox too? Can OE and Arago help, can somebody offer us a starting point?

Also I want to add that in sdk 7/8 there is one Qt compiled application fancybrowser. Your customer can use it by:
/usr/bin/qtopia/examples/webkit/fancybrowser
./fancybrowser

This browser is included in current file system and if the customers is familiar with Qt they can compile and modify.

Hi,

for a demo on the am335x EVM I managed to install iceweasel on the debian image, using the binaries and apt-get.
iceweasel is a branch of firefox for debian, and it works quite well: rendering and scrolling speed are acceptable, even if it takes a few seconds to start it up and to close it.
