Integration of the ADC (TSC_ADC) with ALSA

Hi,

I am using Beagle bone black for prototype development. The requirement is using ADC integrated with touch screen controller for audio data. My understanding after reading audio driver for sitara chipset is ALSA has support for AC97,I2S and McASP. Is it possible to integrated ADC (TSC_ADC) with ALSA instead of user application to redirected the collected samples to ALSA?

Hi Selvaraj,

While this may be possible, there has not been such a use case in my knowledge. For the extent of ADC support you can expect from the Linux SDK please see http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Linux_Core_ADC_User's_Guide

I have read the ADC user guide . The guide present examples of reading from sysfs nodes and the sampling rate is 8k. As per out analysis we are have to capture all the samples at user space and then feed it to the ALSA, this will be introduce latency . That is why we are looking at the option of integrating ADC.

In addition to this, does SDK 8.0 (Linux) support MCASP integration with ADC and PWM and both should be capable of operating in 48khz?

We have the above requirement since audio samples have to be looped back from ADC to PWM at 48 khz. PWM does not any hard ware fifo, implementing a timer based IRQ mechanism for putting out 48K samples on PWM will not be efficient.
