AM1808 PATA Interface

I'm doing a project for senior design, and our team needs to find a way to interface a 40-pin PATA cable with the AM1808. We can't convert it to SATA because we are using the SATA peripheral for something else. Does anyone know of a way this can be done?

Hello Perry,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages (for processor issues). Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics (e2e.ti.com).

When you are using SATA interface for other device, you could have a option to convert PATA to USB and connect it to AM1808. Readily available PATA to USB converter is available in the market.

Our team had discussed using the USB port, but we were advised not to pursue this option due to time constraints. The people in charge of our project don't believe we will have enough time to write the code to support the USB peripheral on the AM1808.

Hello Grant,

Apart from SATA and USB, there is no other option to connect the PATA device.
