[TMS320DM8148] Confirm the Transition Time definition

Guru 24520 points

Hi community member,

Please let me confirm the following question.
[Question.1]
Regarding to the DM8148 datasheet, the maximum Transition time is defined as 10ns.

Why did you define this specification?

I know that you explain this specification is  "Maintaining transition times as fast as possible is recommended to improve noise immunity on input signals." on datasheet.  But I would like to know the background.

[Question.2]
Is there a potential to be broken the DM8148 by not meeting this specification?

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Best regards.

Kaka

I think the background of this value should be some noise issues detected, which are not observed when t(t) is 10ns or less.

By not meeting this spec, you might have noise and/or electrical issues on the input signals.

  • Hi Pavel,

    Thank you for your response.
I understand that this specification is for noise issues.
And even though not meeting this spec, the device will not be broken.

    Is my understanding correct?

    Best regards.

  • It might not work properly but I think it will not be broken/damaged.
