Reboot persistent registers

Hello,

Our board is based on 814x series processor. We need to be able to set a couple of bits and reboot in order to perform some Test operations in u-boot.

Are there any registers in 814x that won't get cleared after a soft-reset? What are they?

Hi Anand,

Software global warm reset will not reset EMAC switch, Emulation logic, PLLs, Latched boot pins.

See DM814x datasheet, section 7.3 Reset and 7.3.7

See DM814x TRM, 2.7 Reset Management, 2.7.8 Software Controlled Reset, 2.7.11 Reset Characteristics, 2.7.13 Reset Isolation

If you use software local reset:

Local reset: Affects one power domain, reset domain, or module. Generally, when a power domain transitions from off mode to active mode, or when a software-reset control bit for a domain is set, only the group of modules within that domain is affected.

I think the RTC module provides a couple of scratch registers that survive global resets, they are only cleared when the RTC module is powered down.

See section 20.2.5 (scratch registers) in the DM814x TRM.
