After install the BIOS-MCSDK 2.1.2.6 setupwin32.exe,I can't find the " C6000 Code Generation Tools ".Should I install the newest "C6000 Code Generation Tools v8.0.1"?

Hi everyone:

The version of CCS is 5.5.0.00077, and the DSP chip that I want to use is C6670.According to BIOS MCSDK 2.0 Getting Started Guide ,I have installed BIOS-MCSDK 2.1.2.6 setupwin32.exe  in a path other than the default installation path, so I will need to tell CCS where to find these components. The BIOS MCSDK 2.0 Getting Started Guide says:

Instructions to Add Compiler Path to CCS

In CCS go to ‘Window --> Preferences.” This should bring up a window as shown in the snapshot below. Here go to ‘Code Composer Studio --> Build --> Compilers’ and add the path to where you installed the compiler. In this example, v7.3.4 was provided with CCS and v7.4.1 was subsequently installed. Once you add the path, CCS should show “TI v7.4.1” in the “Discovered tools” section.

But in my installation path I can't find the " C6000 Code Generation Tools v7.4.1" or similar file .Thus I have two question: 1,Whether I need it?  2,Can I install the newest one?

Best Regards,

  • Hi,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages (for processor issues). Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics (e2e.ti.com).

No need to install C6000 CGT separately. You can add path to discover compiler and find the discovered compilers as below,

    Window-> Preferences-> CCS-> Build -> Compilers

    Your screenshot is missing.

  • Hi Raja,

Thanks for your answer,I know your meaning. But The .The BIOS MCSDK 2.0 Getting Started Guide says:

Instructions to Add Compiler Path to CCS

In CCS go to ‘Window --> Preferences.” This should bring up a window as shown in the snapshot below. Here go to ‘Code Composer Studio --> Build --> Compilers’ and add the path to where you installed the compiler. In this example, v7.3.4 was provided with CCS and v7.4.1 was subsequently installed. Once you add the path, CCS should show “TI v7.4.1” in the “Discovered tools” section.

This ScreenShot come from BIOS MCSDK 2.0 Users Guide .From above ,we can know that there tow compilers, one is in C:/ti/ccsv5_5/tools/compiler/c6000_7.3.4 which I also have a similar one;the other is  C:/ti//compiler/C6000 Code Generation Tools 7.4.1 which I don't have. The following  screenshot is mine:

I just have one compiler which is C:/ti/ccsv5_5/tools/compiler/c6000_7.4.4.Shoule I install the other compiler C6000 CGT separately?

  • Hi Raja,

I am sorry that I miss my screenshot just now ,It shoule be:

  • Yes. Your understanding is correct. The CGT v7.4.4 is enough for keystone development. You can install other compiler as mentioned in Getting started wiki.

    Thank you.
  • Hi Raja,
