I am planning to use a 5V TTL serial devices that I would like to connect to I2C/UART of the AM335x without level shifters. Is the AM335x SCL/SDA/RX inputs 5V tolerant or will it damage the SOC?

To add to Yordan's answer: see parameter "Steady State Max. Voltage at all IO pins" in the table in section 5.1. Also check Note 8 below the table.
