5V tolerant of I2C & UART (AM335X)

I am planning to use a 5V TTL serial devices that I would like to connect to I2C/UART of the AM335x without level shifters. Is the AM335x SCL/SDA/RX inputs 5V tolerant or will it damage the SOC?

Hi Sandeep,

Sitara I/O cells are not high voltage tolerant, 5V input levels will damage these pins. Input voltages SHOULD NOT exceed the I/O cell VDDSHVx voltage. The only pins that can accept up to 5.25V are USBx_VBUS (see Section 5.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings in AM335x Data Manual).

To add to Yordan's answer: see parameter "Steady State Max. Voltage at all IO pins" in the table in section 5.1. Also check Note 8 below the table.
