GPU compositing in DM8148

Hi,

I am using DM8148 EVM, with EZSDK _5_05_02_00. I am using CodeSourcery Toolchain arm-2009q1. I want to create a video pipeline in DM8148 using gstreamer through SGX530.

I have gone through the site "http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/GPU_Compositing" . I have the following queries?

1) I want to know if GPU_Compositing is possible in Dm8148?

2) Will EZSDK support it or I have to download AMSDK 5.x?

3) Should I have to use a different cross compiler other than CodeSourcery Toolchain arm-2009q1?

Also if any document is available for GPU_Compositing in Dm8148 .

I think it is possible to use GPU composition with DM814x.

DM814x latest EZSDK comes with Graphics SDK version 4.04.00.02:
ti-ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_02_00/component-sources/graphics-sdk_4.04.00.02

While for GPU composition you should upgrade to version 4.06.00.03:
software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html

Note that version 4.06.00.03 is compatible with DM814x device:
e2e.ti.com/.../1108910

For how to upgrade old Graphics SDK to new Graphics SDK:
processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Graphics_SDK_Quick_installation_and_user_guide

Thanks for the reply. But I am having one more doubt

After updating DM8148 with Graphics_SDk_ 4.06.00.03 according to the link "processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Graphics_SDK_Quick_installation_and_user_guide" is it necessary to run the "./upgradeGfxSdk.sh" script as mentioned in "processors.wiki.ti.com/.../GPU_Compositing" in the EVM?

The "upgradeGfxSdk.sh" script contains installation for "gfx_rel_es8.x". But The DM8148 contains SGX530 for which we should install "gfx_rel_es6.x"

Please once confirm on this.

These steps are for AM335x only:

Try without these steps (which are AM335x device specific). If it does not work, you should modify the steps and script for DM814x.

Dear Pavel,

I have updated the Graphics SDK to to 04_06_00_03. Now according to the "processors.wiki.ti.com/.../GPU_Compositing" I have installed " composition" in /opt of my root file system. Now when I try to run "./composition" I am getting the following error.

root@dm814x-evm:/opt/gpu-compositing# ./composition
'eglInitialize': egl error 'EGL_BAD_ALLOC' (0x3003)
ERROR: init EGL failed
root@dm814x-evm:/opt/gpu-compositing#
