DRA7xx - NAND Bab Block managment

Hi,

I am working on DRA7xx board. I have a doubt regarding NAND. If I erase NAND from uboot using the command "nand erase.chip" the bad block information in NAND will be retained or will be erased. Because I have studied in one of the documents that erase should be taken care such that these BAD blocks should not be erased.

Hi Vijay,
The BBT also got erased and new BBT would be written in last 2 blocks of NAND flash.
You able to see the warning that BBT would get erased like that before doing "nand scrub"

Hi stalin,
I did not get any msg as such while erasing the NAND. Why that care is not taken in uboot that the bad blocks should not be erased? If i erase the chip using uboot command, will it make any issue using NAND further such as mounting from userspace, writing some files into it?

Hi Vijay,
Actually "nand scrub" is not recommended one for field devices (you could see UNSAFE print), since it would erase the BBT.
This the command for those who intentionally want to erase the BBT.
It is used for testing purpose.

If you want to erase the flash without erasing the BBT then just use"nand erase"
