RTA CCSv5.3

Regarding System Analyzer tools, the issue we have is that we would like to be able to use the RTA (legacy) tools with DM6437 in CCSv5.3. We are using DSP/BIOS 5.42.0.07. We have been unable to find documentation for RTA tools in CCSv5, however we looked at the “BIOS 5 Real-Time Analysis (RTA) in CCSv4” wiki but found that the  flags in the Diagnostics row are missing for us as shown below.

Some raw logs are collected and are viewable when debugging is paused. We are most interested in restoring functionality to the CPU load graph if this is possible. Right now our workaround is to debug using CCSv3.3.

Mark

  • Attached is the screen shot.

  • Mark,

Could you try to see if the stairstep example works for you?  I was able to see it partially work for an evm6472 board but I don't have a DM6437 board right now.  I do see the CPU load update real-time while the CPU is running.

    (1)  Do file->New->CCS Project   and It will bring up a new window.
    (2)  In the new window under "Project templates and examples",  expand the "DSP/BIOS v5.xx Examples"
    (3)  expand the "evmDM6437 Examples".
    (4)  Select "stairstep example" then give it a Project name and hit "Finish"

  • Hi Judah,

Mark posted this on my behalf. I ran the stairstep example on the DM6437, but the CPU load graph remains blank. Do you have any ideas on how to get it working?

    Thanks,
    Matt
  • Is this a custom board or the evmDM6437 board that TI provides? The CPU load graph should work with the stairstep example by default. You shouldn't have to change anything in the example for it to work. Since its not working for you, I don't have an explanation of why that is the case. What emulator are you guys using?

My suggestions in the order below would be:
    1. Try it on another install of CCS.
    2. Try it on a different emulator.
    3. Try it on another machine.
    4. Try on another board.
