am335x evm boot from SD

Hello,

I'm new to am335x evm board and I need help to solve a problem with booting from SD.

Steps I do:

1. Insert Linux SD card (from the box) in slot0

2. Set up SD boot mode as decribed in processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM335x_U-Boot_User%27s_Guide

3. Power on the board.

And the only thing that I can see in TeraTerm is 'CCCCC' symbols. I've tried with Android card and there is the same result.

I've also tried to boot from NAND and there were messages:

- mmc_send_cmd : timeout: No status update

- Card did not respond to voltage select!

Hi Alexey,

The CCCC symbols mean that your board is trying to boot from UART.

Are you using a customized AM335x EVM?

Another reason for your issue could be that you use wrong MLO & U-boot..

Which u-boot are you using? I'd recommend to start with the latest officially released u-boot from SDK8.0.

thank you for answer.

I did not change MLO & U-boot on SD card.

As for booting from NAND I have written in NAND MLO and U-boot that I biult using SDK8.0. But, I did not do any changes before build, only executed 'make O=am335x CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- ARCH=arm am335x_evm'

make am335x_evm_config
make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- ARCH=arm

Hi Alexey,

The steps you did to build your u-boot seem correct.

However, can you try booting with the prebuilt images from SDK8.0: software-dl.ti.com/.../index_FDS.html Use create-sdcard.sh script to properly create your sd card.

Can you please recheck your board setup (sysboot), use Table 26-7. SYSBOOT Configuration Pins from AM335x Technical Reference Manual and processors.wiki.ti.com/.../AM335x_General_Purpose_EVM_HW_User_Guide ?
