CCS OMAP3530 Examples

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP3530

Hi,

Trying to find some project examples for CCS and OMAP3530

I got two OMAP3530 devkits with 14 pin JTAG, got a XDS100v2 and also installed the CCS 4.1 succesfully.

Experimented with WinCE/PlatBuilder but now I need to try a more native approach with CCS.

Can anyone please point me to any CCS example projects (or project code repositories/libraries from TI ) for McBSP, I2C, USB on the OMAP3530?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

  • Christos,

it is not clear what you want to achieve. The best sources for example code are really the WinCE or Linux driver sections. Everything is in source code there. For the DSP side you may have a look at the DVSDK releases which include DSP/BIOS drivers (probably not for USB).

  • Hi Frank,

    Thanks for answering.

The objective as said is to see if I can use the CCS and a more 'native' approach for the OMAP3530.

For what I want, WinCE worked quite better than Linux (angstrom) and now trying to see if there is anything on OMAP3530 under CCS thus putting aside the O.S. overheads.

I hoped to see something like the CCS examples that float around for the various TI DSP chips but up to now I couldnt spot anything for OMAP3530.

So if there is any CCS specific OMAP3530 example project for USB/McBSP/I2C it will be really interesting for me.

  • Christos,

of course you can use CCS especially for DSP side programming. However OMAP3 is a quite complex SOC and just starting it up nicely needs a lot of code. As all of this has already been solved in WinCE and Linux twice I don't think we can provide support for more trials... It really needs a great software team and a lot of experience to do your own development without support. Otherwise I don't see what you expect to gain. If the user experience with the OS is good I assume it makes more sense to tweak this according to your needs.

Despite all that I assume you could try to leverage a lot C6000 DSP code you can find on the OMAP3 DSP too.

    Regards.

  • Frank,

Everything is understood and seen floating on various other posts.

    >Otherwise I don't see what you expect to gain.

My own experience so far has shown that the Linux effort although quite large, has stil some road to go since as it is now gives problems to what I wanted to do specifically on McBSP (ASoC).

WinCE was better and more succesful but yet again it has licensing overhead. So I could at least get that cost out of the picture if CCS was having something working on OMAP3530. Now I guess you see why I searched towards this direction.

Anyway as I understand if I want to proceed with OMAP3530, it cannot be done via CCS, instead I have to stay on the utilization of a O.S. WinCE or Linux.

    Thanks again and regards,
