Ethernet performance & cpu usage

Hello,

I have some general question regarding cpu usage and ethernet:

I have reviewed the performance and feature wiki for DM814X:

It shows that when ethernet TX reaches ~300Mbit/sec the cpu load is about 100%

and if ethernet RX reaches ~410Mbits/sec , then cpu load is about 90%.

Does anyone knows why is can't reach the 1Gbits/sec, and why cpu usage reaches maximum when ethernet useage is far below the 1Gbits/sec capacity ?

Hi Pavel,

Thank you for the link.
The performance numbers seems better (Is there a performance improvements between the SDK ?)
But why does it reach cpu 100% before reaching the maximum limit of 1Gbit ? Can't it reach 1Gbit ?

Ran,

There is Software overhead. And Linux OS also adds latency.

You can try to improve this numbers with switching the CPU A8 from 600MHz to 1GHz and DDR3 from 400MHz to 533MHz.
