AM1808 - RAM copy issue

Hello,

We are facing an issue for copying the binary file larger than RAM size. We are using u-boot-2011.09 version. At u-boot, we are copying the binary image(UBI File System Image) from SD Card to the RAM first and then to the NAND Flash. The RAM is of 64MB and the NAND Flash is of 128 MB. We are unable to copy the binary that is more than 58 MB (As RAM is 64MB). We have a requirement to copy the binary that is of higher size (> 70 MB). Can someone please help regarding an alternate solution to do so. Is there any flash utility to copy the binary directly on NAND Flash?

Hi Hareesh,
Only you want to flash the UBI filesystem at u-boot and not linux ?
I hope, we can do this stuff at linux.
Firstly need to boot from RAMDISK and mount filesystem then copy the UBI filesystem and write into NAND flash.
We can do this with bash scripting in automated for production and fast too.

What do you say ?

Is there any way to flash the UBI Filesystem at U-Boot? Since changing to Linux shall be a considerable change for us.

And can you please elaborate on how to do it on RAMDISK and copy the filesystem. We are having only one filesystem which we need to write it on NAND Flash.

Hi Hareesh,
We can have a "ramdisk" image and main UBIFS filesystem image in SD card and copy that image from SD to RAM then it should mount as a filesystem.
We have to modify the bootargs for RAMDISK booting.
We have to add one script in that ramdisk image that would copy the main UBIFS filesystem image and write into NAND flash.
If we put that script in "runlevel" scripts then it will execute automatically and flash the filesystem.
