TCI6488 EVM USB enumeration error

Hello,

Currently we are working on a project that uses Spectrum Digital TCI6488 EVMs.
We have two of them. One of the EVM is working fine and we are able to download
and run our code.

The second EVM has some issue. When we connect this EVM to a PC with CCS v3.3
and try to launch the parallel debug manager, we get USB enumeration error.
Also we see the Red color DS3 LED does not go off as compared to the working EVM.

We are using ccs v3.3 on a Windows XP host.

Can some one please help in resolving this issue.

Best Regards,
Ganesh

  • Hi Ganesh,

Welcome to the TI E2E forum. I hope you will find many good answers here and in the TI.com documents and in the TI Wiki Pages (for processor issues). Be sure to search those for helpful information and to browse for the questions others may have asked on similar topics (e2e.ti.com).

I do not have that EVM, please check EVM user guide for any jumper settings are required to enable USB emulator.

  • Hi Raja,

Thank you for your quick reply.

As I have mentioned I have two EVM's. One working and the other not working. The Jumper settings / switch settings are identical. That is why I am not sure how to proceed on this.

Are there any EEPROM or onboard Flash that could have been corrupted?  Can you suggest some tools that can programme them to some default images?

    Best Regards

    Ganesh

  • Hi Raja,

    Any updates ?

    Thank you,
    Best Regards
    Ganesh.

  • Hi Ganesh,

I believe this issue needs to be handled through Spectrum Digital customer support. The problem you are seeing is not a TCI6488 use-specific one, but rather appears to be a problem with the embedded emulator circuit itself on the EVM. The USB emulator circuit appears to be non-functional for some reason: damaged in some way, or the firmware non-volatile memory has been corrupted, as you suggested.

There are no externally released tools for reprogramming the EEPROM for this circuit.

I suggest that you please contact Spectrum Digital support for help with this matter. http://www.spectrumdigital.com/contact_us.php

Sorry to redirect you to another support team, but we do not handle damaged/non-functioning returns for these EVM kits.

    Thank you,
