Difference between TMDSEVM6678LE and TMDSEVM6678LXE EVMs

Could someone please explain the difference between the TMDSEVM6678LE and TMDSEVM6678LXE EVMs available from TI at http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdsevm6678. While I read the text that TMDSEVMLXE has encryption enabled, I am unable to understand specifically what that means.

I gather from this post e2e.ti.com/.../900759;that the TMDSEVM6678LXE have security enabled Keystone devices while the others don't. So is it that the C6678 processor on these two EVMs are different in the sense that one has the security accelerator while the other doesn't. Are there any other differences?

Some elaboration would really help.

Also could you confirm if the silicon revisions on these two boards are different. It seems like TMDXEVM6678LXE contains silicon revision 1.0 while TMDSEVM6678LE contains silicon revision 2.

Hello Arvind,

The TMDSEVM6678LE EVM comes with XDS560V2 Emulation and the TMDXEVM6678LXE EVM comes with Encryption and XDS560V2. As mentioned in the other post, the security accelerator could be enabled only on the device with encryption support or on the EVM which has encryption enabled device.

To my understanding, there is no correlation between the silicon revision and the encryption. The encryption enabled device is available in both silicon revision 1.0 and 2.0. For example, TMS320C6678AXCYP (V2.0) and TMS320C6678XCYP (V1.0) are available in the addendum.

Hi Senthil,

I am referring to the table on the following page http://www.ti.com/tool/tmdsevm6678 which I am pasting below for ease of reference. I am taking the "Current version" column to mean silicon revision available on the EVM. Is that a correct interpretation? Since TMDXEVM6678LXE states the "Current version" as 1.0 I was a bit concerned if it meant buying that EVM would mean getting a revision 1.0 silicon.

I think my interpretation is wrong, but just want to be doubly sure before I place orders for EVMs.

Hello Arvind,

I suspect the current version given in the above image should be silicon version as version date matches with the silicon version date. However i would suggest you to contact advantech support team to know the silicon version of the particular EVM before making a purchase.
