AM335x with Gnome X-window system support

Hi,

I am working with AM335X platform and trying to port the X-window system (Xorg) packages (startx, xinit). I have downloaded all the libraries in to the root file system.

I am using TI SDK6, Tell me how to build and up the system with Gnome. My intention is to remove your matrix gui while start up and i will call the Xorg to startr up the stratx.

Hi Anil,

There isn't a recipe that you can bitbake to build your gnome x-window support in the fs.
You should either create your custom gnome recipe, which you can bitbake, or you can add the downloaded packages to the current core-sdk recipe.

No, as far as I know there isn't gnome x-window support for Sitara platforms.

One of the older OMAP5 SDKs (GLSDK6_00, with kernel 3.8) was using Ubuntu based filesystem that supported x server, I had some success porting it on the later GLSDK6_04, but I haven't done it on any of the Sitara devices.

The closest file systems, I know of, that use x-server are the early GLSDKs (starting from 6.01 to 6.04) for the automotive platforms (see ). These GLSDKs use Yocto file system, which is close to Sitara's Arago fs.
