[AM3517] Error in Qt fancybrowser application build

Hi

I can run many of the qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.2 demos on the AM3517EVM KIT.

But when I run the 'gmake' for the fancybrowser application of QtWebKit, it gives me following error.

:cannot find -lQtWebKit

collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

gmake: ***[fancybrowser] Error 1

Can you please help me what is wrong here. What can I do to remove this error/

Regards,

  •    Look at your top-level Makefile in the  qt-everywhere-opensource-src-4.6.2  directory.  It should contain lots of references to "webkit/WebCore" which indicates it will build the webkit modules.  If not, it is probably because your configure script contains the "-no-webkit" option.  Configure defaults to that if it thinks your C compiler might not handle C++.

You can replace the "-no-webkit" option with "-webkit" and run qmake and gmake again to rebuild the Makefile and Qt SDK.

  • Thanks Clay,

It is working now. You were perfectly correct.

I want to creat a desktop using QT to run on EVM board. Is there any opensource QT free desktop application available which I can used to run on this platform?

    regards,

  • TB,

Qt and the KDE desktop share some underlying components, but I don't know if there is a version of KDE suitable for embedded linux.  You should post your question on the BeagleBoard.org and/or Nokia Qt forums.

  • Ok. thanks.

If I want to create customized desktop using QT then do you know how to do it?

At present I am not clear where to start to create a homescreen and how to link other applications there.

If you know then please, guide me little bit or suggest any link for it. What should be the project settings to create new project? (Should I use QWidget or QMainWindow as base class?)

    regards,

  •  I would start by looking through all the examples and demos in the Qt SDK and copy one that is closest to want you want to do.  One major consideration is do you want your icons to be able to scale and animate the way they do in this example:

    examples/animation/appchooser

If so, then you will need an example like this that uses a QGraphicsView and you should utilize the Kinetics module for the physics.  The QProcess module can be used to launch external apps and there are other examples there that do that.
