Reading the value of dropped frame through omx demos

Hello TI,

We have DM8148 based custom board and we are using ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_01_04. We have also developed an application using the capture_encode demo.

We have a requirement at which we can have the count of dropped frame in our application. When we use logger dump there is a log entry:

N:VPSS P:2 #:04322 T:0000042db55e5ed3 M:xdc.runtime.Main S:VIP-1 PORT-A Dropped Frame Count :40 Total Capture Frame Count 30

So can anyone please guide me how can I pass this information to my application?

Yes, we are using ezsdk_dm814x-evm_5_05_01_04_overlay_setuplinux.

Hello,

In the Overlay package you could search for IOCTL_VPS_CAPT_PRINT_ADV_STATISTICS in omx_vfcc_drvif.c.This will print the statistics.
In OMX_BUFFERHEADERTYPE doesn’t have any field which can tell the frame number.
I have not try this but may be if you add IOCTL as one index so that ilClient will call this index using OMX_Getconfig and that will print the frame dropped.

Hi Margarita,

Thanks for the response.
Can we add a new field in OMX_BUFFERHEADERTYPE lets say nDropFrameCount and nCaptureFrameCount which will keep on updating regularly along with the other fields?

Can you please guide me how can I add new variables into OMX_BUFFERHEADERTYPE structure which can be updated along with the timestamp and the other parameters?

Hello,

Check the OMX_Core.h header file.
As you could see the struct OMX_BUFFERHEADERTYPE does not contain the field for drop and capture frames.

Hi Margarita,

I am aware that OMX_BUFFERHEADERTYPE does not contain the field for drop and capture frames.
That is why I want to add these two fields into the structure. So can you please guide me what all changes I will need to add these two fields which can be updated from overlay and can be accessed at application layer.
