Using 2 bits per color with the AM335x

Display is LXD-M7113A

Attached is a schematic showing the attachment of an LXD TFT display.

The actual pins of the AM335x are in the schematic.

I would like to use just 2 bits per color as I don’t have more pins available, they are in use for other peripherals within the AM335x.

Is this plausible and do I have the correct color order?

  • Hi David,

In raster mode the AM335X LCD controller supports 1, 2, 4, 8 bits per pixel through a palette RAM. For color modes this is output through an 8-bit bus (packed format for 1, 2 and 4 bpp). Only 16 and 24 bits per pixel have direct output  Please read through section 13 of the AM335X Technical Reference Manual Rev. L for details.
