I want to buy a ICE board for evaluating the EtherCAT solution. Based on this experiment only we decide to have EtherCAT on our own board or some other solution. If we decided against EtherCAT, then we dont want to register or get a Vendor ID. The question is if I want to use TI's ICE board just to evaluate EtherCAT solution , can I do that without registering into ETG and without any vendor ID to me ?
Also, I always see only "EtherCAT slave implementation". Are there no master implementation ? If I buy two ICE boards, can I configure one of them as Master and another slave? If not, what is the way to test the slave configuration ?
