Dear Champs,
In the latest version of MPEG-2 encoder it is mentioned that B-frames are not supported.
When do we intend to support it?
Thanks,
Yair

Hi Yair,
Currently there is no plan to support B frames in DM365 Mpeg2 encoder.
For our information - What is the reason for the B frame request ?

Yashwant,
The application is an encoder that streams to set-top boxes. There is a large install base of STBs which decode only MPEG-2 and the expect a specific GOP structure.
If a stream is not compliant with the GOP structure then the stream is considered to be non-compliant.
The idea we had in mind it to create stream which is compliant with the IBBP GOP structure only in the level of header and frame reordering. The prediction will be only forward prediction.
In this way we may be able to create a stream which is complaint with what STB's expect to handle.
If this feature can be on our roadmap it can help in opportunities we have.
Regards,
Yair
