About TPS6591133 PMIC programming

Hi,

We are using TMS320DM8148CCYE2 (Texas Instruments) which uses 1.35V core voltage. To power up this processor TPS6591133 is used as suggested by TI datasheet. We have referred EVM which uses the processor with 1.2V core voltage. My concern is whatever PMIC we have used has the factory programmable EEPROM . How will I communicate to TI that I will be using 1.35V processor and the same should be programmed in the PMIC? Is there any particular design change we have to do for this ? Please confirm.

Hi Madhura,

The communication between the DM814x device and PMIC is through I2C. By default the DM814x EVM comes up at 1.2V. And if you need to switch to higher voltage (1.35V) for OPP166 (1GHz ARM for example), you need to request this voltage change.

This can be done from u-boot with the below command:

TI8148_EVM#i2c mw 0x2D 0x22 0x3C

This method works with Power Management chip TPS659113, attached to I2C0 at address 0x2D.

You can also change the voltage from user space. See the below wiki pages for more info:
