OSCVDD on C6720

Hi,

we produced the first hundred boards with the C6720 DSP. We use an oscillator on CLKIN as clock. The datasheet says OSCVDD has to be connected to CVDD. We made a mistake and connected OSCVDD to DVDD. It is difficult to rework the produced boards to correct this. Is it possible/allowed to leave OSCVDD open or connect it to GND?

Regards

Bernd

  • Hello Bernd,

When you are using oscillator on CLKIN as clock, you are required to connect the OSCVDD to CVDD only. It is not advised to leave the OSCVDD pin unconnected or connect to ground. This might cause the internal clock section not powered and you cannot expect the device operation.

The only suggestion i would give you is using a jumper to CVDD.
