Hello,
We are interested in the DM8168 processor. We might have an occasion when we wish to have the A8 turned completely off and just use the DSP. Is this possible?
Where would the control for this be located in the part.
Thank you.

Ler,
Cortex-A8 ARM can not be power OFF while leaving rest of the system ON. A8 ARM belongs to the Always ON power and voltage domain. Always ON power domain is never transitioned from the ON power state.
See the below resources regarding power management:
DM816x TRM, chapter 3 Power Management and chapter 18 PRCM

Pavel,
Is it possible to talk to the various I/O pieces without the ARM processor (and Linux) involved? In other words, do libraries exist for the DSP that would all for functions like Ethernet, serial communications, etc? We are trying to minimize our initial software development time and the number of processors we are trying to interact with. Then, as time permits, move to the ARM and its environment.
Thank you.
