Boot ELF image from NAND using IBL

As I understand it, the IBL on the TMDSEVM667x is not configured out of the box to be able to boot an ELF image from NAND, and in order to make it do so I must change the IBL Configuration Table.

From the IBL source code I can see what the structure of the IBL Configuration Table is, and what needs to be changed, but I haven't found documentation indicating where in I2C memory it is located and what the accepted procedure is for modifying it. So my question boils down to this:

How do I modify the IBL Configuration Table contents?

Hi,

Two method to modify the IBL Configuration Table contents.

1. Using i2cConfig.gel GEL file - change ibl_BOOT_FORMAT_BBLOB in i2cConfig.gel to ibl_BOOT_FORMAT_ELF on i2cConfig.gel GEL file and refer below step to update the I2c table. For more information refer MCSDK user guide.

2. Modified the same on IBL source and use the re-build IBL binary.

mcsdk_2_01_02_06\tools\boot_loader\ibl\src\util\iblConfig\src\device.c, edit this file by changing ibl_t c6678_ibl_config(void) ====> if you are using 6678.

ibl.bootModes[1].u.nandBoot.bootFormat = ibl_BOOT_FORMAT_ELF;

Re-build IBL.

If I just use a utility I have for modifying I2C EEPROM contents, can I just go to the appropriate location in the EEPROM and patch the value for ibl.bootModes[1].u.nandBoot.bootFormat by overwriting with a 4 to replace the 5?

I have tested the different boot formats with modified i2cConfig.gel GEL file to re-program the full EEPROM boot configuration memory. For my understanding, your way of overwriting also fine for boot format change, but we did't validated this way. You can try your self.

Looks like I'll need to take care if fixing the chkSum field as well.

yes, better to use i2cConfig.gel GEL file for configuration table boot format modification. It is easy for all boot mode boot format modification.
