AM335x Board: Flash EEPROM without SD Card

I am trying to init a custom board which has the I2C EEPROM but the EEPROM is not initialized. The SD card is not enabled.

Is there an example to init the EEPROM using for instance a gel or a CCS script?

Otherwise I have to disable the EEPROM check from spl in order to load the u-boot.

Hi,

What you could do is stop at u-boot prompt when the EEPROM is blank. Then you can program it from u-boot. I am not aware of any scripts for doing this.

Thnk you for the reply. The SDK spl and u-boot does not start when the eeprom is blank. I think have to disable the eeprom check.

Hi Mario,

The main question here is do you need the EEPROM at all. As I see it on a custom board it would be useful only if you need to store your own MAC addresses. On TI EVMs it's used to allow Linux to differentiate between boards and configure the processor accordingly.

Exactly, the idea is to store MAC but also differentiate the HW since we will have two different boards.

In any case at the moment I will disable the EEPROM from u-boot and kernel.
