I plan to use HD-SDI camera,and use receiver GV7601 to convert Serial Video Data to 8bit video data YCbCr SDR 4:2:2 data,can it be connected to DM8168 VIP 8bit port directly or need FPGA ?

Yes,you can use GV7601 directly to DM8168 without FPGA to transfer YUV422 data, We have succesfully make it work.

Hi ,
I want to explain as simple as I can here
The thread you mentioned, talked about a case that the Video ADC provide 16bit BT1120 interface with 74.25MHz Pixel CLK.
To interface 4-ch HD video with DM8168, you have to use 8bit BT656 interface with 148.25MHz Pixel CLK, the data width is half and the pixel clk is twice. So you have to convert 16bit BT1120-> 8bit BT656 . FPGA is required.

Now in your case, 8bit BT656 Video ADC is availabe, so FPGA is not necessary.

Hi,
I am using GV7601 as a serial digital video receiver and want to interface this with DM8168.
I want to use 16 bit port (of DM8168) to capture 1080P60 video,The GV7601 supports ITU-R BT.656 SD formats, and
HD formats conforming to ITU-R BT.709 and BT.1120-6 for 1125-line formats, and SMPTE 296M for 750-line formats.
The device may also be configured to output CEA-861 timing. can i use 16 bit BT.1120 interface to capture
1ch HD video with DM8168 ? I have to use FPGA or can it be directly connected to DM8168 VIP 16 bit port ?

Yes, you could DM8168 to capture BT1120 input format.

Now we are planning to use GS 2971A (3Gb/s, HD, SD SDI Receiver). Input is from camera .
I want to capture 16 bit video out data from gs2971 in DM8168 . can i use 16 bit BT.1120 interface to capture 2-ch HD video with DM8168 simultaneously? I have to use FPGA or can it be directly connected to DM8168 VIP 16 bit port ?

I could help from the DM8168, if your receiver can output BT1120 16bit output, you could directly interface it with the input port of DM8168.
DM8168 can support two 16bit BT1120 inputs and upto 165MHz Pclk on each port. If your output resolution is within this limit, DM8168 will be able to capture it without any problem.

In our VPC card (using DM8168) Input Module receives analog (PAL) and HD-SDI on Vin 0 and VIN1 port and we want to display on HDMI . Can I use internal HDMI (in DM8168) or I have to use external transmitter (Phy) device for HDMI port. In evaluation board both are used.

Hi,

In our design we are using GS2971A capture device manufactured by Genum Corporation. we have connected output of GS2971A directly to the VIN0 port of the DM8168
can i capture video with HDVPSS using GS2971A?
as discussion in the given below link make me confused..

If you are using DVRRDK then it should not be a problem.
