AM3352- Ethernet Port Interface for Dual MAC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hi,

In the datasheet of AM3352, I can see that, it consist of 3 Port Switch Ethernet subsystem. The 3-port switch gigabit ethernet subsystem provides ethernet packet communication and can be configured as an ethernet switch. My doubt is given below.

1) Whether it is possible to disable the Ethernet switch functionality and  can I operate the two Ethernet port with two separate MAC address?

2) If I am using the two Ethernet MAC interface in RMII mode (100Mbps), whether AM3352 will provide RMII reference clock for the PHY's?

Best Regards

Yes, this is a valid operating mode of the CPSW.

No, external clock is required. Most PHYs have an internal oscillator which only requires a crystal and a couple of capacitors to be added.
