AM3352ZCZ30 and DDR3 memory

Hi,

I'm making custom board based on Beaglebone Black. On Board I chose AM3352ZCZ30 and I added MT41J256M16HA-125E DDR3 memory. I found that there is no parameters for PLL settings for OPP50 and DDR3 memory.

Max CPU frequency for AM3352ZCZ30 is 300MHz and I'm asking is it possible to use this CPU with DDR3 memory because for DDR3 frequency is 400MHz.

Best regards.

  • The ZCZ package has independent voltage rails for the MPU voltage and the CORE voltage.  Given that you're using a 300 MHz device, the implication is that the MPU rail needs to be at OPP50.  The DDR3 controller and all the peripherals are powered by the CORE rail.  This rail must be at OPP100 for DDR3, which is fine even for the 300 MHz devices.  It is perfectly legal to use MPU@OPP50 and CORE@OPP100.  That is stated in the data manual in Table 5-8 "Valid Combinations of VDD_CORE and VDD_MPU OPPs for ZCZ Package With Device Revision Code "A" or Newer".
