Upgrading from an OMAP-L138

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138, ADS1178

Hi All,

We are looking to upgrade our present architecture to a keystone in order to acquire more computing power.

Present Architecture:

  1. OMAP-L138
  2. mDDR
  3. ADS1178
  4. LCD
  5. SD/MMC cards
  6. Ethernet

Our power requirements are a bit tight, we need to stay under 3 watts. If anyone has any recommendation we would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Arya B.

  • Hello Arya,

First of all, the keystone architecture does not support the following peripherals.

    1. mDDR
    2. LCD controller
    3. SD/MMC

The keystone 1 & 2 devices support DDR3 and other high speed interfaces like SRIO, PCIe, HyperLink, USB 3.0 etc., So you may not directly upgrade your present architecture to the keystone platform. You need to workout on many things to move keystone platform like DDR, LCD and SD/MMC support.

If you are ready to take up these changes, you could consider C6654/55 (DSP only) or 66AK2E02 (ARM+DSP) device to start with. You could find all the related documents like reference designs, power consumption model, application notes, user guides etc., in the device product folders.
