4 Gb NAND Flash interface with DM8168

Hi,

In our design we are using DM8168 and we want to use a NAND Flash 4Gb (MT29F4G08AACWP_ET) for memory booting and storing information data. We are planning to use a X8 bus width device.

WE are connecting CE# to GPMC_CS [0] and CE2# to GPMC_CS [1]. But we are confused about R/B# and R/B2# as we have only GPMC_Wait (GPMC Wait Input) on the GPMC port of DM8168 . can I connect both R/B# and R/B2# to GPMC_WAIT pin (AE8 pi of DM8168)..?

Hi Neelam,

Checking MT29F4G08AACWP NAND flash chip datasheet (link below) I see that CE2# and R/B2# are used only for 8Gb parts. For your 4Gb part, these are NC

Notes: 1. R/B2# and CE2# are available only on 8Gb devices. These pins are NC for other configurations.

For the 8Gb configuration, CE# controls the first 4Gb of memory; CE2# controls the second 4Gb.

In the 8Gb configuration, R/B# is for the 4Gb of memory enabled by CE#; R/B2# is for the 4Gb of memory enabled by the CE2#

For other Micron NAND flash chip specific questions, ask Micron support team.
