Get slow response from hwclock

As you can see, after issuing command "hwclock", I need to wait 10 seconds to get the rtc.

Copy Hardware Time to System Time.

When your hardware clock shows different date and time, than your system clock, you can use -s option as shown below to copy the system time to hardware time as shown below.

Example:

# hwclock
Thu Jul 2 18:55:48 2015 0.000000 seconds

# date
Thu Jul 2 18:58:19 UTC 2015

root@dra7xx-evm:~# date -s '2015-08-31 16:49:56' - Set the date and time
Mon Aug 31 16:49:56 UTC 2015
root@dra7xx-evm:~# hwclock
Thu Jul 2 19:04:01 2015 0.000000 seconds
root@dra7xx-evm:~# hwclock --systohc - copy the system time to hardware clock.
root@dra7xx-evm:~# hwclock
Mon Aug 31 16:50:44 2015 0.000000 seconds

I think you misunderstood what I meant.

I can get the RTC via "hwclock"; However, it takes 10 seconds to response.

 

root@dra7xx-evm:~# hwclock

<Wait for 10 seconds...>

note: I didnt use alarm function in tps-65910 RTC

Could you explain more details about your Hardware and Software configuration?

Did you check if this patch is applied - lkml.org/.../112

Did you enable in your kernel config TPS65910:

CONFIG_RTC_DRV_TPS65910=y
#CONFIG_RTC_DRV_OMAP=y

Recompiled and tested and indeed it shows up when booting:

[ 1.390833] tps65910-rtc tps65910-rtc: rtc core: registered tps65910-rtc as rtc0
