Can Software break the SPI in the AM3359?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3359

Folks,

I use an AM3359 processor.

Just like software can cause damage to EEPROM, can software also cause damage to the SPI related hardware in the processor (i.e., software making SPI inoperable)?

Or can SPI just be broken through hardware issues (i.e., wrong voltage, too much current, etc.)?

Thanks
