Query on TCP/IP NDK stack

Hello All,

I am new to Tiva Series(TM4C129xnczad). I am looking into Ethernet device. Can anybody let me know how NDK(TCP/IP stack) is communicating with Ethernet driver on TI-RTOS .

A document or any information related to this will be very helpful to know more about NDK and Ethernet interface.

Hi Sanyam,

The Network Interface Management Unit (or NIMU) layer provides an interface between the NDK stack and the network adapter device drivers like the ethernet driver. The Tiva ethernet driver shipped with TI-RTOS is NIMU compliant i.e. it implements all NIMU APIs. The driver registers all the API functions in the NIMU device table by calling NIMURegister() during initialization phase (see EMACTiva_NIMUInit() function in EMACTiva.c). Once registered these APIs can be called by the NDK core stack and serve as a way for the stack to control the device at runtime.

You may also find it useful to go through the NDK ethernet driver design guide to understand how NIMU compliant ethernet drivers are implemented.

Please note that the driver for the TM4C129x devices is EMACSnow. The EMACTiva driver is used for Concerto (and older Stellaris) devices. I know the naming is a little whacked and we should fix it...
