Interfacing 800x400 display to 66AK2E05

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: 66AK2E05

Team,

Need some guidance on interfacing a display to the Keystone 2 66AK2E05 - see below:

Working on 66AK2E05 design using the K2E EVM evaluation board. We are planning an 800x400 display.  We currently drive the display with a TI DS90C384 which is an 65MHz LVDS receiver. We don’t see a built in display controller in the 66AK2E05, so we’re wondering if there is an app note or other guidance on the best way to implement a display controller on this part.

I could not find any app notes or E2E posts addressing this topic. I know that this isn't a common use case, but I need suggestions on how this could be done.

Thanks,

John

  • Hi John,

We don't have any applications notes concerning the integration of a display with the 66AK2E05. An integrated display controller was not considered a requirement by the team that defined the part.

Planning processing video data with the K2E which is included on the display or is the display a simple user interface?
  • Thanks for the answer. The application is a user interface, 10 frames/sec is plenty fast. No video. The display we are considering is a USMP-TT050WV-01-H. We are trying to determine the best way to get the GUI data out of the processor. i.e, we could come out GPIO (too slow and too many processor interrupts) so perhaps pcie or USB 3 to an external FPGA. We're using the processors and DSP for other functions, so don't wish to add a lot of management for the simple GUI. There are SPI displays, but again we think too slow.
  • A separate component with an integrated display controller would be necessary for your design.

    Thank you.
