Downgrade from DM8168 to L138

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS, OMAPL138

Hi,

I have to downgrade a  DM8168 SW that runs on both ARM and DSP to L138. What are the things that are different and I need to be care of when porting from DM8168 to L138?

(1) The clock speeds are different;

(2) DM8168 supports SYSBIOS while L138 supports DSPBIOS;

(3) DM8168 supports DDR3 while L138 supports DDR2;

(4) DM8168 has some on chip memory while L138 does not (not sure ?);

What else?

Thanks,

Zhao

  • Hi,
    OMAPL138 is also supports SYSBIOS, it has internal memories, yes it supports only DDR2 and mDDR (LPDDR)
    It supports clock upto 456MHz etc.,
    You can check both data sheets.

    Please let me know if any clarifications required.
  • Hi Zhao Li,

    Would like to know for what purpose you are switching to OMAPL138 from DM8168; So that we can look into that direction.
    If it is a general difference, you can compare the datasheets of both the processors.
