DM8168 - 16-bit RGB camera support via port A

Hi,

I am using DM8168 processor. I am trying to bring up Sony Camera (IMX136LQJ) in my customized platform.
I am using LVDS chip (SN65LVDS324) to send the data (parallel) from sensor to processor.

The LVDS chip is giving 16-bit RGB parallel data to the processor. The LVDS chip output is routed to VIP-0 (port A).
As per the data sheet, in the section 2.11.1 port A supports only 24-bit RGB data attached below:

Here, the processor supports only 24-bit RGB data, but our LVDS chip data output is 16-bit RGB format.

Please let us know, is it possible to send 16-bit RGB data to processor from VIP0(port A).

Hello,

It supports YUV422 16-bit embedded/discrete sync mode for 16bit.
For RGB input video source, RGB 24-bit discrete/embedded sync mode.

Thanks for your prompt response. From you reply, can I assume that DM8168 processor will supports only RGB 24-bit discrete/embedded sync mode and it will not support RGB 16-bit discrete/embedded sync mode.?.

We have referred the data sheet from the below link:

We assumed like VIN[0] can supports 16-bit RGB input video source from above attached documents which is highlighted in the attachment.

Please clarify this to proceed further

Hi Salih,

Why dont you treat the input RGB16bit as if it is YUV422 16bit and capture it as YUV16bit? This should be possible in discrete sync mode. Please configure the output storage format correctly to get the RGB565 correctly in the memory.
