Like pretty much everyone else that has tried using SPI on the BBB I'm having trouble getting any signs of life out the the SPI modules. Using the MCSPI_SYST register I've confirmed that the pin multiplexing is good. I can read and write registers fine so the OCP clock is there. That seems to narrow the problem down to the functional clock.
I tried the TI clock tree tool to see if it revealed something I might be missing. Unfortunately it shows the same symptoms as the real hardware. No matter what state the SPI peripherals are in it will not gate the functional clock to the module. I would appreciate it if someone could load the following register file in to the clock tree tool and see if there's something obvious that I'm missing.
