dm3725 power consumption

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DM3725

what is the power consumption of dm3725(800Mhz) in linux when only core is active and system is in idle state(standard linux DVSDK daemon are running , but no additional software is running ) . is 150mW is reasonable value ?

i'm aware of AM37x_DM37x_PowerEstimationSpreadsheet_v1_01 but i didnt find the idle core power consumption estimation .

  • Hi Tzvi,

The power consumption of the processor (dm3725) depends of many things. Are you measure the power on the VDD1 only or the whole power VDD1 + VDD2. Also the consumption depends of pull-up and pull-down pin mux configuration.
The minimum power consumption on VDD1 which I expect is around 30 mW but if you adding VDD2 power consumption you should add various subsystems like SDMA, GPMC, DSS, USB, McBSP, .... and will expect higher consumption.
Therefore in some cases 150 mW could be reasonable value but in other hand when only core is active and the system is in idle state 150 mW seems little bit high consumption.
