Hi there.

I'm on a new project and I require an embedded controller - I'm looking at developing our own board with a simple ARM based MCU + separate HMI however I recently saw the TMDXSK437X EVAL BRD in Farnell.

1. This is an EVAL kit - if we went down this route of integrating what is essentially an embedded computer - what are our option when we reach production?

i.e. Is the board as per the EVAL kit the only option regarding physical integration in the end product ?

2. How long is availability of the board guaranteed for ?

3. What tools are available for generating content on the HMI display?

4. Are there any other options Regarding the display and bezel?

Hi Stephen,

1. TI EVMs are designed for development purposes, and not for end-user integration.
2. This is a new processor, therefore there is no expectancy that it will reach EOL any time soon.
3. TI provides several different software platforms for development - Linux SDK, Starterware, Industrial SDK.

You may want to consider the Beaglebone Black - based on AM335X, has HDMI, much cheaper, very popular: http://beagleboard.org/black

HI Biser,
sorry for query above relating to pricing - I was cutting and pasting from an earlier e-mail to a distributor and the latter half of my post should not have been present....

Regarding query #1 - OK this is an EVAL board if I develop using it is there an off the shelf board that is designed for end-product integration and will have on-going availability?

If not - my project is a low volume-high-value product and my development time needs to be short - is there any reason why TI does not recommend the EVAL board for product integration ?

Hi Biser,
I think this Rico board may be a good solution for us.

You may not want to post this -> I see Myir is located in China but look to be very reputable - agree?
