Sometimes booting fails on EVM6657

Hello!

We use EVM6657 boards (PCB: 17-00132-02, PCA: 18-00132-02) with CCSv5 (5.2.1). MCSDK is 2.1.1.4. We have some problems with booting our applications from NAND or NOR. We try IBL booting.

Sometimes application does not run from NAND flash, and sometimes application runs from NAND. How it is possible?
Another words, when we switch on power supply on the board our application may not boot from NAND, but sometimes it may boot.
When application has not booted, we press RESET ( FULL or WARM) button on EVM6657 and after that application may boot. Sometimes we have to press RESET button several times (several attemps) while successfull booting occurs.

We try several applications, including demo led_play. We have four EVM6657 boards, and all boards show such behavior. There is the same problem for NOR ibl booting.

Can anybody explain the reason of this? Can firmware FPGA induce such behavior?

  • Hi Elnur Babishov,
It will be difficult to comment about this behavior. Please provide below information to help you better,

    During boot fail:

    1. Please check the power and power on reset signal are proper.

    2. What is the state of DSP? Connect the emulator and see the status of DEVSTAT and PC?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Rajasekaran.

I think power is Ok. But I do not know how to check POR.

DEVSTAT is 0x0000080B (booting from NOR). It is correct value (I try booting from NOR).

PC shows 0x00809D4C. What does it mean?

Also, I use HyperTerminal and receive such messagese during booting:

    IBL version 1.0.0.15

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    ...

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    IBL: Booting from NOR

    ...

    These messages run endlessly.
    What does it mean?
