Hello,

We are using 4 DSP's (TMS320C6457) in our design,

We are using single PTH08000WAH module for powering DVDD33 voltage supply rail of all 4 DSP's (TMS320C6457),

According to hardware guidelines for DSP (SPRAAV7B refer Page no 23),

Capacitors to be used across DVD33 voltage supply rail -

10 × 560 pF

20 × 100 nF

1 × 22 μF (ceramic)

1 × 330 μF

We have designed accordingly,but PTH08000WAH maximum output capacitance is 330uF as per data sheet of the module (PTH08000WAH refer Page no 3),

Can we remove 1x330uF capacitor at DVDD33 voltage supply rail of each DSP(TMS320C6457) to reduce load on PTH08000WAH module?

Pramod,

Since you are sourcing DVDD33 supply to the all 4 DSP's from single PTH08000WAH module, you may need to use the recommended capacitors for all the DSP's (i.e., 4 sets for 4 DSP's) on their supply pins. The given recommendation is for single DSP.

Also you have to use the power module recommended capacitors on its output end. Please ensure that the power module output current is quite enough to supply all 4 DSP's.

Thanks for reply,

We have designed as per recommendation given in PTH08000WAH data sheet for output caps on module,

But output capacitance at output is low for our design,

Please can you recommend us the pin to pin matching power module with high output capacitance (alternate to PTH08000WAH)

I am very sure about your design requirement. You may need to perform power integrity analysis to decide on the capacitor requirement. For other pin to pin compatible power module, i suggest you to post your query on below power management forum.
